Add a question tag in Gujarati

In English we use “Question Tag” when we want confirmation from other person about some activity. 

e.g. You will come to movie, won’t you ?

She did not drink milk, did she ?

In Gujarati also we have concept of "question tag". But in Gujarati we just add word "ને"(ne) to normal sentence and pronounce it in the tone of asking question.

Examples :-  

You are coming -> તું આવી રહ્યો છે (tuM AvI rahyo Che)

You are coming, aren’t you ? -> તું આવી રહ્યો છે ને ? (tuM AvI rahyo Che ne ?)

She did not speak.  -> એ બોલી નથી (e bolI nathI)

She did not speak, did she? -> એ બોલી નથી ને ? (e bolI nathI ne ?)

He will do. -> એ કરશે  (e karashe )

He will do, won’t he? -> એ કરશે ને ?(e karashe ne ?)

Compared to English, adding question tag is very easy in Gujarati . Just one word irrespective of tense-subject-multiplicity etc. Because of this, many Gujarati speaking people follow this habit of adding ને(ne) even while speaking English. Hindi and Marathi people add ના(nA). Some times they add "no" (as if short form of actual question tag )

So you may hear few Indians saying :-

You are coming na?

You wont come na?

You will come, no ?

Etc. :)
